- DeWys has 6 summer positions for general labor. – They will move around the shop doing various jobs depending on the need. If they are 18 or older, there are more opportunities to be on a machine and if they are under 18 then I do have a couple of opportunities on our paint line or in assembly. All the positions pay $11.00/hr with first shift hours being 7am to 3pm and if they prefer second shift it would be 3pm to 11pm which an additional $1.00/hr shift premium. - Hello, I am pleased to announce that MDOT will once again offer internship opportunities to 12th grade graduating seniors that have used a TRAC module between the 6th and 12th grades. The internships are 7 weeks long – June 20 thru August 5, 2016. Pay is $12 per hour and 40 hours per week and locations are available across the state. During the internship, it is our goal to teach the students everything thing we can about civil engineering through hands-on projects. Receive up to $20,000 in scholarship aid at Western Michigan University
to become an Industrial Technology teacher
Western Michigan University’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is seeking upcoming
high school graduates interested in becoming an Industrial Technology teacher. Here are the related areas
we currently are able to certify teachers in:
• Aeronautics, Aviation, Aerospace Science and Technology
• Airframe Technology
• Automotive Technician (NATEF)
• Collision Repair Technician (NATEF)
• Construction Trades
• Drafting and Design Technology
• Electrical/Electronics Equipment Installation and Repair
• Electro-Mechanical Technology
• Engineering Technology
• Graphics and Printing Technology and Communications
• Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration
• Machine Tool Operation

Scholarship Details
Recently, WMU CTE’s teacher education program received a large endowment entitled the John L. and
Jane K. Feirer Scholarship. Dr. John Feirer was a long-time faculty member and chair of Industrial
Technology and Education until his retirement in 1984. The endowment allows the program to provide
support if students remain in good academic standing and continuously pursue an Industrial Technology
Education major at WMU.
The maximum scholarship amount is as follows:
*Must maintain a 2.75 GPA and continue in the Industrial Technology Education major.
Other smaller scholarships may also be available.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Candidates interested in this scholarship must contact Dr. Richard Zinser, Professor of CTE
([email protected]) and express intent to apply for the Feirer Scholarship. Students
should be recommended by their high school industrial technology teacher by email to Dr. Zinser.
2. Candidates must apply to and be accepted into Western Michigan University’s Fall 2016
Freshman class with a pre-major in Industrial Technology Education by February 15, 2016.
3. Candidates’ families must complete the FAFSA financial aid application by February 15 and
be determined to have financial need to be eligible for the scholarship.
